“The act of philanthropy is a spiritual act, an expression of caring for one's fellow human beings. It is a belief in the future that the future can be good. It is investing in that future. It is helping to make the dream come true.”
-- Arthur C. Frantzreb
The financial needs of NHS continue to grow. Each year more applicants apply for funds; nationwide tuition costs are rising. This year alone, two hundred worthy applicants were turned away. To keep pace, NHS needs your support.
We welcome your interest. NHS is governed by an all volunteer board. NHS supports 100 students in school. The number of students we serve can continue to grow with your support.

“Dear Nina Haven Foundation,

I am Lacey Lingelbach, one of the 2017 scholarship recipients. I would like to update you on how I spent my first semester at the University of Florida with the help of your foundation. This past semester, I took 14 credit hours, including one honors course, and earned a GPA of 3.90. I also have planned on pursuing a dual degree in Environmental Science and Political Science with a dual certification in Public Affairs and Political Campaigning. Outside of classes, I met many great people through the organizations I was involved in. One of which was my inter-residence hall association, where I put on events such as a Haunted House, Taco night, Trivia night, and a Christmas party for my dorm. Another club I joined was the School of Natural resource and Environment Council, where I learned about environmental intiaitves and practiced sustainability on campus. Lastly, at UF, I was involved in Student Government Association as an Assistant Supervisor of Elections where I help run the student government elections each semester. Outside of UF, I have been interning with the Alachua County Democratic Executive Committee where I have worked alongside Dr. Cynthia Moore Chestnut in planning and executing fundraising events, sending out newsletters, and reorganizing the local party. Lastly, I am involved with the Florida YMCA Youth In Government as a graduate advisor. In this position, I serve as an adult volunteer who sets up and helps run the youth-led, model state government program of which I participated and led heavily in high school. This past semester has taught me a lot about responsibilities and balance, but I am so appreciative of my college experience. Because of your generous scholarship that funds my education and allows me to succeed, I have been allowed to worry less about finances and focus on my plan and future to give back to my community. I have many plans for the future and a lot of more exciting life adventures I am pursuing in the spring, including resident advisor applications, the Florida Cicerones, the Honors Ambassadors, and volunteering with the Bob Graham center for Public Service. I cannot wait to tell you about my experience after next semester and show you that I am putting your scholarship to good use. Thank you!”
