Judy received a Nina Haven Scholarship when she was graduated from Martin County High School, and that experience created a lifelong connection to the organization. Judy earned an undergraduate degree in social work at Florida State University and a master’s degree, also in social work, at Barry University. She spent her career working in mental health and child abuse. She joined the Nina Haven board of directors in 1979 and became President and volunteer Executive Director in 1996, which she served for 26 years. Under her leadership, Nina Haven substantially grew its resources and began awarding sector scholarships for students pursuing specific fields of study.
After her retirement, she served as president of the Hibiscus Children's Center and later as chairman of the board for the Children's Home Society for the Treasure Coast. Judy was appointed by former Governor Charlie Christ to the Children's Services Council of Martin County board, where she served for four years, including as chairman. In 2008, she was honored with The Florida Coalition for Children’s Ann Bowden Child Advocate of the Year award.
Judy passed away in 2023, leaving behind a lasting legacy of compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to Nina Haven scholars and alumni. Her impact continues to be felt through countless lives she touched.
